ICFAI Business School Wins Top Laurels in International Case Events

ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad continued its record of winning accolades in international case events by winning three awards recently in an international conference and case competitions.

The case “Rahul Yadav: Housing.com’s Maverick Entrepreneur”: Authored by Prof. G V Muralidhara and Ms. HadiyaFaheem, won the Baylor Case Writing Award at the USASBE International Conference 2016 held at San Diego in January 2016. The case study discusses the dilemma faced by the investors and board of the real estate online search portal Housing.com with regard to its CEO, who was considered impulsive.

John Molson MBA Case Writing Competition: In another event IBS, Hyderabad won two prizes in the prestigious John Molson MBA Case Writing Competition organized by John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.

The annual competition of John Molson MBA Writing Competition is open to all the case writers in the world, who submit unpublished and untested cases. Six cases selected from the top entries submitted to the case writing competition are used in the John Molson MBA International case competition, where more than 180 students (grouped into 36 teams) from 13 countries around the world compete against each other on a series of cases focused on strategic management. Presently in its 35th year, the competition is the largest and the oldest case competition in the world.

Among the six selected cases:“The Turnaround Plan of McDonald’s: A Long Way to Go” written by Ms. InduPerepu won the Second Prize. The case on McDonald’s, discusses the turnaround plan announced by Steve Easterbrook, CEO of McDonald’s Corporation for reviving the sagging fortunes of the company. The case challenges the students to discuss the implications of the turnaround plan, and if it would help the company regain the lost glory.

“Maggi Noodles in India: The Revival Challenge”: Another short case writing competition “Maggi Noodles in India: The Revival Challenge” authored by Mr. AlokKavthankar and Ms. InduPerepu won the short case writing competition. The case study on Maggi is about the challenges Maggi Noodles faced in India to relaunch the product after it was taken off the shelves as per the orders of FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India).
